hollard gardens

Last week, we had some really constant windy days. Since I don't pay much attention to the news, I assumed that the wind was from a hurricane somewhere in the Pacific--that happens now and then. But, I was wrong. It was just really, really windy weather. So when we went to Hollard Gardens today, I was quite happy to see that there were still lots of bloom on the bushes and trees. The rhodos were in magnificent form.

These are magnolia buds.

This is a native kowhai tree.

You've captured the Rhododendrons in gorgeous form! Since Portland, Oregon is the home of some of the best Rhodies in the world, I knew you would want me to provide the complete name! I would expect no less from my followers. I can't tell you what fun it is to see your blooms as our are beginning to fade into rest. Love, Susie

Beautiful spring colors. The rhody (the first one) is my absoslute all-time favorite shade. I love it -- all are beautiful.
